Your caravan or motorhome is your home away from home — and its LPG gas system needs to be treated with the same level of care and safety as any other gas installation.
Skud Plumbing specialises in LPG gas servicing, repairs, testing, safety inspections and compliance for caravans, motorhomes, campervans, camper trailers and mobile homes.
Our experienced gasfitting services cover the complete LPG system, from cylinders and regulators through to appliances, pipework, connections, ventilation and combustion safety.
Why Professional Gas Servicing Is So Important
LPG is highly flammable, and an incorrectly installed, damaged or poorly maintained gas system can create serious risks, including gas leaks, fire, explosion and carbon monoxide exposure.
Gas appliances can also develop faults over time. Blocked burners, damaged components, inadequate ventilation, incorrect gas pressures or problems with combustion and flueing can result in carbon monoxide being produced or entering the living area.
This risk can be particularly important in caravans and motorhomes because gas appliances are operating within a relatively small enclosed space. Victorian Health guidance specifically identifies caravans as environments where faulty gas appliances can create a carbon monoxide risk.
Gas Work Must Be Carried Out by an Appropriately Licensed Professional
Gasfitting is not a DIY job.
In Victoria, gasfitting work — including the installation, replacement, repair, alteration, maintenance, testing and commissioning of gas installations — is regulated under Victorian gas safety legislation.
Energy Safe Victoria states that it is illegal and potentially fatal for unlicensed and unqualified people to undertake gasfitting work, and recommends that consumers always use a licensed or registered gasfitter.
Gasfitting work must also comply with the applicable prescribed standards. For caravan and similar LP gas installations, this includes AS/NZS 5601.2 — Gas installations, Part 2: LP Gas installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes, together with other applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Using an appropriately licensed gasfitter isn't simply about getting a job done — it's about protecting you, your family and other people using the vehicle.

Gas Compliance & Documentation
Where applicable, Skud Plumbing & Gas can undertake gas safety inspections and gasfitting work and provide the required gas compliance documentation for completed work.
In Victoria, licensed gasfitters are required to issue and lodge Compliance Certificates for applicable standard gasfitting work.
If you're preparing a caravan, motorhome or mobile home for registration, transfer, inspection or roadworthy requirements, Skud Plumbing can inspect the gas installation, identify defects and complete the required gasfitting work where appropriate.
Please note: a gas Compliance Certificate is not the same as a vehicle Roadworthy Certificate. Roadworthiness certification is a separate vehicle inspection and certification process.
Don't Take Chances With LPG Gas
If your caravan or motorhome has an LPG smell, an appliance that isn't operating correctly, a suspected gas leak, damaged hoses or regulators, unusual burner behaviour, or you're simply unsure whether your gas system is safe, have it inspected by an appropriately licensed gasfitter before using it.
